We have completed the Chapter on Rate for Mathematics. As a pre-activity, we measured their pulse for 15 seconds and then calculated their heartbeat per minute. Thus, they learnt that rate is a measurement against a common benchmark, like per KG, per Second, per Min etc.. We have completed the Maths AB Activity 4 on Rate. In addition, we have also completed the Average Maths Worksheet and Rate Maths Worksheet as revision today.
Today, we completed Unit 9 of their English supplementary paper and learnt new words such as summon, prosecuted, persecuted, nefarious and flotsam. They also joined in a 1 hour special assembly programme where a story-teller came and relate a beautiful story for everyone. We ended the day with a comprehension activity where you are required to sequence the story strips, answer the comprehension cloze before everone completed the 10 comprehension questions. .
Homework:
- Rate Practice 2
We will be going for SYF Arts exhibition on Friday. It will be racial Harmony Day tomorrow.

Another Thursday...
Tomorrow, we will be writing a piece of composition on 'Lift Breakdown'. Please remember to bring along your creative writing book and word bank book. I have observed that you have shown great improvement in your writing. Your sentences are much more fluent and ideas elaborated. There is always room for improvement. Remember it takes years to be a good writer. Practice makes perfect!
I am glad we have completed one set of challenging Maths Word Problems today. Although some of you might face difficulties solving the questions, don't be disheartened. By perservering and practising, our solving skills will improve.
This week, we have completed the theme on 'Electricity' and we will be moving on to revision next week. I hope everyone had hun playing with the ADDEST electrical kits, bulbs. If there is time tomorrow, we will be going to the Computer Lab to attempt interactive online circuit and quizes.

Electrical Circuits
I hope you had an engaging time in the Science laboratory, investigating how different arrangement of circuits can affect the brightness of the bulb. Although it seems very simple, electrical circuits can be rather complicating when they have parrallel and series in an arrangement. However, with practice, we will be able to cope with confidence.
Homework

Recap of what we have learnt
We have completed Decimal for Maths. In that chapter, we have learnt to multiply and divide decimals by whole number. Now, we are moving on to percentage. Percentage is very similar to fraction. It is always a fraction with a denominator of 100. We come across percentage in our daily life -- shopping when there is discount, GST etc..
This week, we are still at electric current for Science. After understanding the different components of a circuit, we will be investigating how different arrangement of components can affect the brightness of the bulb. Tomorrow, we will have hands-on practice with bulbs, wires and batteries. Stay tune!
There is no homework today. =)
Cheers,
Miss Lin

Good Luck for your Higher Chinese Paper tomorrow.
Please revise Synthesis and Transformation. Some of the "trickier" ones are:
-- unless
-- all
-- either .. or ...
-- Direct and Indirect Speech.
For open-ended comprehension, read the passage carefully. Underline the verb in the question and answer to the questions in the passage. Remember; do not lift directly from the passage. Always paraphrase your answer. Do not answer more than required of the question as it may lead to unnecessary deduction of marks.

Miss Lin
